Michael E. Kar is an Associate in Gartner + Bloom’s New York City office, where his practice focuses on complex civil litigation.
Michael primarily litigates commercial, labor & employment, and insurance defense matters including construction defect and fiduciary duty claims. In addition to practicing in both state and federal courts, he is also experienced in representing clients in mediations and arbitration proceedings. Michael is called on make insurance coverage determinations as well as advise on unique commercial and business disputes.
His business approach to the resolution of conflicts employs legal strategies that prioritize each client’s particular interests and goals. Michael’s clients include individuals, shareholders, partnerships, corporations, insurers, and other related entities.
He has been an active pro bono mediator with the New York Peace Institute since 2016. In 2017, Michael was awarded his Certificate of Dispute Resolution from the Kukin Program for Conflict Resolution.
• Obtained seven-figure arbitration award for minority LLC member who was terminated without cause and denied payment of his equity interest by the majority members. Two weeks of hearings included extensive forensic analysis of LLC transactions, competing complex business valuation, and pivotal contract interpretation issues.
