MARC SHORTINO was admitted to the New Jersey and U.S. District Court, New Jersey 1998; New York bar 1999and Florida bar in 2022. He served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Hon. Stephen F. Smith, Superior Court of New Jersey, Civil Division, Morris Vicinage, 1998-1999.
Marc has been with gartner + bloom PC since 2001, and has been a partner since 2006. Marc has been the managing partner of the firm’s New Jersey office, located in Whippany, New Jersey since 2010, and also manages the Florida Litigation Department since 2022. Marc is in charge of all trials and arbitrations out of New Jersey and Florida. His areas of concentration include casualty defense, construction litigation including construction defect, mold and toxic torts, premises liability and auto negligence, and professional liability defense.
With regard to construction defect litigation, Mr. Shortino has represented developers, contractors, and design professionals in New York, New Jersey, and Florida state and federal courts. Marc has also been recognized as a New Jersey “Super Lawyer.” Marc has lectured at the West Coast Casualty Construction Defect Conference and served as a CLM Conference panelist discussing construction defect issues in the state of New Jersey and the northeast.
Marc has 25+ years of litigation experience and has successfully garnered numerous trial resolutions on behalf of his clients. Some prominent published decisions of note include Port Imperial Condominium Ass’n v K. Hovnanian Port Imperial Urban Renewal, 419 NJ Super 459 (App. Div. 2011)(successful summary judgment based upon statute of repose); Robertet Flavors, Inc. v. Tri-Form Construction, et al., 203 N.J. 252 (2010)(limitation placed upon plaintiff’s expert due to spoliation of evidence). Prior to joining gartner + bloom PC, Marc was a trial lawyer, representing clients in bodily injury, matrimonial and commercial litigation matters.
Mr. Shortino has been practicing law in New York and New Jersey, in state and federal courts, since 1998-99, and Florida since 2022.
